Bryony Che Hiu Lam been learning music from her parents since young. With full support from the HKSAR Government Scholarship, she completed Bachelor Degree of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She majors in Timpani and Orchestral Percussion under the tutelage of James Boznos, Principal timpanist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She participated various masterclasses conducted by Evelyn Glennie, Reiner Seegers, Markus Rhoten, Li Biao, Momoko Kamiya and Pius Cheung.
During her study, she won champion in the Marimba category and first runner up in the Timpani category at the 2018 IPEA competitions. In 2019, she attended the National Music Festival, Chestertown, MD and was the only soloist chosen to play in one of the concerts.
Facing the challenges to perform during COVID-19, she started to experiment innovative forms of performances. She presented a recital incorporating Max Signal Processing, namely “Interaction Between Percussion Solo and Visual Effects.” Recently, she has commissioned OZNO a new piece called “Red Metals” for 6 Timpani and mp3 and premiered it in her graduation recital. She is also selected to be one of the players at The Orchestral Academy Hong Kong: Young Pro Platform 2021/22 Season, funded by “TrustTomorrow” of The Swire Group Charitable Trust.
