Brenda Poon

Brenda is a percussionist, educator and multi-talent hypnotherapist based in Hong Kong.

She actively performs as a percussionist and drummer for various orchestras, wind bands, and ensemble groups, including the John Chen Ensemble, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, and Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra.

She has been on tour and performed in various countries.

Started her professional music training at the Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in Percussion,

Brenda obtained the Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Music, majoring in Percussion Performance;

and the Master of Arts in Music, majoring in Composition, both from the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Brenda also acquired professional certificates on Drums at Berklee Online.

Brenda started her handpan journey and has been on tour and performed with the “Ah Ding & Friends ensemble” at the PanSiam Handpan Gathering 2023 in Thailand. Brenda is the co-founder of the percussion quartet “Rhombus”.

Besides performing, Brenda is an experienced percussion educator and percussion band conductor in various primary and secondary schools and private music centers, including St. Mary’s Canossian School, Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School. The school percussion groups she has led achieved outstanding results at various music competitions. Brenda often adjudicates at percussion and marching band competitions and is now a teaching Artist at CommonTime Online.

Brenda is a therapist well equipped with a wide variety of knowledge and techniques to support mental health.

She acquired a Master Degree of Science in Psychology from Bircham International University.

She is a General Hypnotherapy Standards Council registered hypnotherapist, Hypnotherapy and counseling association of Asia certified Hypnotherapy Instructor, a Hypnotherapy Instructor and Clinical Hypnotharapist certified by Hypnotherapy counseling center of Hong Kong, as well as a certified Zentangle®️ Teacher.

It is her passion to advocate mental and emotional health with a holistic approach merging her expertise in psychology, hypnotherapy, Zentangle and music.
